Information and RecipientsHomer Wickline and Conrad Seamen Grants
The Pittsburgh Concert Society awards annual grants designated to provide financial assistance to classical music instrumentalists, vocalists, (individuals or groups), who are working to further their careers or their performance opportunities.
The grants may be used for travel to contests or auditions, for creation of promotional materials related to recipient-initiated performances, for assistance in renting a performance venue, for purchasing an instrument, or for meeting any other expenses directly associated with the career development of the recipient.
The PCS Homer Wickline and Conrad Seamen Memorial Grants may not be used for school tuition, lesson costs, or personal expenses such as clothing. Pittsburgh Concert Society Board members and members of their immediate families may not apply for these grants.
The grants shall be awarded annually. The number of grants and their amounts may vary from year to year. However, the minimum amount per grant shall be $500.00.
Those who wish to apply for the 2012 grants are invited to mail to the Pittsburgh Concert Society a cover letter along with any pertinent information they deem necessary to:
- introduce themselves and/or their organization
- provide a clear and concise overview of the project to be funded, along with a proposed budget.
Grant Application Submissions
Applications should be submitted after September 1, 2011 and received no later than April 14, 2012 (hard copy only; online applications are not available for Grants). Send to the following address:

The grant recipients shall be contacted by May 12, 2012.
All documents sent to PCS in conjunction with this grant application become the property of PCS and will not be returned to the applicant.
The winners of the 2011 Conrad Seamen and Homer Wickline grants are:
Eric Juneras, countertenor, who will attend the American Bach Soloists Summer Academy in San Francisco
Elizabeth Stern, flute, who will record and produce a demo CD.
Leah Kaye Serr, mezzo soprano, who will be an Apprentice Artist with the Des Moines Metro Opera Company
Joseph Gaines, tenor, who will travel to Germany seeking "Fest" engagements.
The recipients of the 2010 PCS Wickline Seamen grants are:
Carlos A. Feliciano who is planning the Huellas Latinas Recital Series in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Huellas Latinas will be a recital series that promotes Spanish and Latin-American art song repertoire.
Emily Jaworski,of Concord, New Hampshire, to help in the production of Don Giovanni, the first opera of her newly established New Hampshire Opera Theater.
The 2009 PCS Wickline Seamen Grant was awarded to:
Rebekah Alexander, soprano, of Brookline, MA, to help her attend the Vancouver International Song Institute where she will work on perfecting her French and English song repertoire.
PCS is pleased to announce that Christin-Marie Hill is the recipient of the 2008 Homer Wickline and Conrad Seamen Grant. Ms Hill is a dramatic mezzo-soprano who lives in White Bear Lake, Minnesota. She is finishing a residency at the Minnesota Opera and intends to use the Wickline-Seamen grant to cover expenses she will incur at the Tanglewood Festival to which she is invited for the third time by Maestro Levine.
Ms Hill was the unanimous choice of a five member committee, all of whom members of the PCS board of directors.

The recipient of the 2007 PCS Wickline Seamen Grant is flutist Andrei Pidkivka who will participate in the National Flute Convention in Albuquerque, New Mexico, August 9-12, 2007
The Pittsburgh Concert Society is pleased to announce that Matthew Murchison is the recipient of this year's Wickline Seaman Grant. He will be attending the International Tuba/Euphonium Conference in Denver, Colorado during the week of June 26 where he is invited to perform as a soloist as well as with the group that he founded, Mainspring.
Alexander George who will be a member of the National Repertory Orchestra in Breckenridge, Colorado
Jeffrey Grossman who is organizing the Cambridge Early Music Project
Mike Purdue who is invited to perform his own composition at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention in Columbus, Ohio
Jorge Variego who is invited to the Orquestra Sinfonica de Salta (Argentina) to perform as a clarinet soloist and to record a clarinet concerto.
