1. Applicants must live, or study music, within a 75 mile radius of Pittsburgh. 2. Organists must not reach age 23 by June 30 of the year of their audition. 3. With their application, candidates must submit, on a separate typed sheet, a program of 15 to 20 minutes duration. The selections must include one composition from each of the following musical periods: Baroque, Romantic, and Contemporary. Each selection on the program should be listed with its title, key, opus, movement(s), full name and dates of the composer, and performance duration. The society reserves the right to reject an application because of inadequate programming. SAMPLE PROGRAM 4. Candidates must show a high degree of musical taste and discrimination in their programs. 5. The winner may not change the audition program for concert performance. 6. Proper attire is essential to a good stage presence. Therefore, candidates are required to dress in an appropriate manner. 7. The winner, upon completion of his/her performance, shall receive one of the Pittsburgh Concert Society's scholarship awards. 8. The Pittsburgh Chapter of the American Guild of Organists shall administer the organists’ auditions as well as provide the venue for the auditions, the practice time for the auditions, and the venue for the winner's performance. The winner shall be notified on the evening of the auditions. We appreciate the interest of all who participate. |
