1. Applicants must live, or study music, within a 75 mile radius of Pittsburgh. 2. Singers must not reach their 22nd birthday by June 30 of the year of their audition. Instrumentalists must not reach their 19th birthday by June 30 of the year of their audition. 3. Candidates must provide their own accompanists. Acceptable performers will be disqualified for having incompetent accompanists. 4. With their application, candidates must submit, on a separate typed sheet, a program of 15 to 20 minutes duration. Each selection on the program should be listed with its title, key, opus, movement(s), full name and dates of the composer, and performance duration. Please DO NOT write your name on your program sheet. The society reserves the right to reject an application because of inadequate programming. SAMPLE PROGRAM 5. Candidates must show a high degree of musical taste and discrimination in their programs. Singers must include at least one foreign language selection in addition to English. It is not necessary for candidates to perform from memory.The Society reserves the right to limit the number of acceptable applications to the first thirty (30) received. 6. Ensembles must adhere to the same geographic, age, and program requirements as soloists. 7. Winners may not change the audition program for concert performance. 8. Winners of the Pittsburgh Concert Society Young Artists auditions are ineligible to compete again in the same category. 9. Proper attire is essential to a good stage presence. Therefore, candidates are required to dress in an appropriate manner. 10. Each winner, upon completion of his/her performance, shall receive one of the Pittsburgh Concert Society's scholarship awards. Winners shall be notified on the evening of the auditions.
