Maine Hoppo is an 11th grader (16 years old) at North Allegheny Senior High School, Wexford, PA. Maine started violin at the age of 5. She currently studies with Mr. Hong-Guang Jia, an assistant concertmaster of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. She won the concerto competition 2016 and played with the Pittsburgh Civic Orchestra. She was a finalist at the 16th OSAKA International Music Competition in 2015, and a winner of 2017 Duquesne National Solo Awards. She was also a finalist twice at the Pittsburgh Philharmonic Orchestra concerto competition.
Most recently, she won first place at the American Protégé International Concerto Competition 2017 and was invited to play at Carnegie Hall in NYC. She is a member of the first violin section of the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra. Besides music, she enjoys playing tennis and is on the North Allegheny Girls Ultimate Frisbee team.
